Torn Shingle Repair

Why The Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
The homeowner had noticed some of his shingles had animal damage.
The Problems We Found:
When we inspected the roof and found 5 spots with torn shingles.   When we inspected the rest of the roofs’ surface, we found an area of concern with the fascia board.  There is a wire mesh where animals are getting in through hole.  The roof has approximately 2 years of life remaining and is showing signs of deterioration.
Solution for the Roof:
Replaced torn shingles with new Frost Red 3 tab shingles.

Roof Over Install

Why Homeowners Called Mr. Roof Repair:
We were called in to recover a 500sq foot front section of the roof.
The Problems We Found:
The A frame roof and 2 valleys are worn out, which includes chimney, hip and ridge shingles and a small separate eyebrow roof section.
The Solution For the Roof:
We installed laminate shingles – the main home had a 7 12 pitch, dormer 10 12, lower porch was 8 12.  New flashings on chimney and lower porch roof were also installed to complete the job.

Leak Due to Missing Ice and Water Shield

The Reason the Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
A leak was discovered in the living room.
The Problems We Found:
We went up onto the roof to investigate the source of the leak.  While up there we took a look at where was supposed to be an ice and water shield but discovered that only roofing paper had been installed along the starter shingles.
A gap was found in the brick that meets the siding on the outside wall just below the soffit.  It was approximately 1.5” in width and it exposed some wood …

Animal Damaged Roof

The Reason the Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
The shingles on the roof were visibly damaged, so the homeowner called us in for repair.
The Problems We Found:
Upon inspection, we discovered the shingles had been damaged likely due to a racoon.  In the area where two pieces of plywood meet, one section was being pushed up by the other.  This allowed for a small leak and an area where the animals could get in.

Animal Damage Repair and Roof Tune Up

Why the Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
Roof damage was noticed and animals suspected.
The Problems We Found:
We did a full roof inspection and discovered that there are approximately 7 areas where raccoons tried to get into roof by lifting shingles.
Upon inspection we determined that the shingles on the roof surface are beginning to turn brittle and there is no underlayment.  Chimney flashings needed sealing and eaves troughs needed cleaning.
Solutions for the Roof:
We removed the animal-damaged singles, installed new ones using chem caulking and nails.  We sealed the 2 chimney flashings.

Temporary Flat Roof Leak

Homeowner called in due to a leak in their tenant’s bedroom, which is evident from the cracking around the ceiling lamp and where separates the adjacent bedroom. There is no evidence of leak in second bedroom, however the water damage continues down to lowest point of the wall.  On the roof of the home, the flashing along the brick parameter wall is rusted and breaking away. Temporary Skylight Repair

Homeowner called in due to leak in skylight. Inspected inside and saw evidence of water on drywall.
Lifted one shingle on roof surface. There is no ice and water shield (water proof membrane) installed.
Flashings were placed on top of shingles. Water, when snow melts, is getting in and leaking.
Water is back pooling as water melts from valley and entering the home.
Today as a temporary repair sealed the skylight using roof cement. Sealed on the back and sides of skylight with roof cement

Exhaust Vent and Pipe Removal

Repair Summary:
Homeowner had an exhaust pipe that was disconnected on the interior. Our roof repair contractor removed the old exhaust pipe and will dispose of this.
We replaced with wood and installed ice and water shield and new shingles in this area. We used roof cement and nails where the new shingles meet the old shingles to ensure the area is water tight.

Flat Roof Repairs and Proper Vent Installation

Problem: Water was draining from downspout too close to the house.  The opening at the top of the chimney was exposed, and there was cracking in the flashing around the chimney. Bathroom and attic vents were leaking.  Flat roof was also leaking.
Solutions:  In order to deal with the water draining too close to the house, our roof specialist extended the downspout approximately 4-5 feet so water drains further from the house.  We did the same thing with another downspout at the back of the house.

Roof Tune up with Minor Roof Repairs

Repair Summary:
There was a hole in a shingle due to animal damage from a raccoon or squirrel.
We removed the damaged shingle and sealed the area with chem caulking and replaced the shingle.
The damaged shingle was in a tie in area of the roof so to ensure extra protection in this area, we sealed the left and right of each shingle hip and ridge tab where the hole was under. There was no underlayment underneath so this additional sealing allows additional protection.
