The home’s skylight needed replacing as the old one was leaking and the chimney needed to be isolated as discovered in a prior inspection.
The Repairs Completed:
We removed the old skylight and replaced it with a custom curb mount, tinted with Argon gas from Artistic skylight. We cleaned the curb and installed new flashings for the skylight. We used a thick bead of caulking to sandwich between the frame, glass and curb to ensure it is secure and watertight.

The Reason the Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
Curled shingles on the home’s shingles prompted the homeowner to call in.
The Problems We Found:
Upon inspection we discovered that there was an additional area with damaged shingles than what the homeowner first thought. The hip section; the external angle formed by the intersection of the two sloping roof planes meet, one of which attaches to the house, will also need replacement.

The home was missing shingles and a roof tune up was requested.
Problems We Found:
We inspected the roof and found that there were exposed nails on 13 attic vents, 2 plumbing stacks, and 30 ft of the top wall flashing. There were also exposed nails on the ridge caps and all along the valley.
2 shingles had come completely loose and others were starting to do the same.

We climbed up 40 ft to top of catwalk and installed flashing to close off the gap, which was approximately 10”L x 2”W x 2”H. We took pictures of the repairs to show the homeowner.

Homeowner called in due to a leak in their tenant’s bedroom, which is evident from the cracking around the ceiling lamp and where separates the adjacent bedroom. While on location in central Toronto for this roof repair we first installed 3 inch plywood to close off gap between roof deck. This was covered with custom copper penny aluminium flashing. The main reason for the new roof flashing being installed was to close off and ensure that no animals could nest in attic and most of all make sure the entire area will not leak even under the heaviest of weather conditions. Repair Summary:
Homeowner had an exhaust pipe that was disconnected on the interior. Our roof repair contractor removed the old exhaust pipe and will dispose of this.
We replaced with wood and installed ice and water shield and new shingles in this area. We used roof cement and nails where the new shingles meet the old shingles to ensure the area is water tight.

Problem: Water was draining from downspout too close to the house. The opening at the top of the chimney was exposed, and there was cracking in the flashing around the chimney. Bathroom and attic vents were leaking. Flat roof was also leaking.
Solutions: In order to deal with the water draining too close to the house, our roof specialist extended the downspout approximately 4-5 feet so water drains further from the house. We did the same thing with another downspout at the back of the house.

Repair Summary:
There was a hole in a shingle due to animal damage from a raccoon or squirrel.
We removed the damaged shingle and sealed the area with chem caulking and replaced the shingle.
The damaged shingle was in a tie in area of the roof so to ensure extra protection in this area, we sealed the left and right of each shingle hip and ridge tab where the hole was under. There was no underlayment underneath so this additional sealing allows additional protection.
