Eaves and Downspout Repair

The homeowner had a downspout on the left side of the home (when facing home) that was clogged from leaves at top which helped it get heavy. It was also screwed into stucco which did not hold well. We reattached downspout together and attached securely into the stone as well as the PCB pipe that goes into the ground.
We recommend the eaves be cleaned out around entire home – the steeper roof which would need to be done by ladder.
Recommend 230 ft gutter filter be installed – also would be …

Popped Nails Prove To Be Roof Leaks

Problem: There is a roof leak on second story above the bedroom coming through the vent. It is leaking because there is no underlayment , snow and ice is building up, there are exposed nails around the vent causing the leak, there are also some missing shingles in front of home, and there are several leak sources from popped up nails
Solution: We were able to seal around the roof vent using roof cement, to make the area is water tight.
The shingles are too cold to remove and would be too brittle …

The back of the house has ice damming above solarium
The roof was not installed correctly by original roofers. The customer had asked for a 4inch overlap over solarium and it was not done. The seals where the drip edge meets the solarium is worn out and leaking from the ice dam. The underlayment was only applied 3 foot above solarium and applied improperly. There is exposed wood (no underlayment) 3ft and higher above the solarium. Ice damming is pushing under these shingles as well as the shingles directly above solarium …

The Repair Specialist returned and re-inspected skylight – skylight is definitely leaking and is contributing to the current problem. However a secondary factor was determined. There is a valley above it approximately 15 ft. We removed ice on valley to inspect. When a couple of shingles were removed it was found that water from the steep side of the valley is traveling across and goes under low slope side of the valley creating roof leaks. There is no ice and water shield installed and no sealants were used. The leaks …

The homeowner has an ice dam on back on the second story. He has a gutter filter installed which was a significant help in removing ice dam as it had not frozen into the gutter system.
We removed snow and ice dam off the back of the roof.
We left a tiny thin layer of ice so as to not touch or harm the gutter filter and added a small amount of melter to help remove this.
We informed homeowner of this and the also agreed this was a good idea.
We noticed that …

The homeowner has cables on roof – half are in working order and half are not. The breaker needs to be on for “good” half to be working. Repair Specialist spoke with the homeowner and recommend that all the cables be removed at the same time and replaced in order to avoid future problems with the “second half” and homeowner agreed with this.
We removed the ice dams and all the cables. This was very difficult process – two rows in eaves trough as well as on roof.
We recommend that a …

The homeowner has an ice dam as you enter the home on left hand side and one on second story at front of house in the valley area and one in back of home on first story.
We removed snow from first story roof at the back of the house. We chipped out some of the ice from the first story eaves, however the shingles cover the eaves to far so had to fill with melter– could not remove manually without damaging the roof.
On the second story roof we removed about …

During the inspections we found two problems – First, ice damming in eaves trough and second, the roof membrane is peeling off of the drip edge allowing water in from the ice dam as well as any other water from snow around perimeter of the flat roof. This is due to installers not applying primer to drip edge so did not adhere to drip edge. Flat roof is on the second story at the back of the house.
Some of the water is coming in due to the ice dam going …

We removed all the snow and ice from the first story roof and then removed any ice damming from the first story roof (three sides of roof approximately 80 ft long).
We also removed ice dams from those 3 sides of eaves trough and installed a gutter filter on those three sides.
We applied calcium chloride around perimeter to remove loose bits of ice attached to shingles.
We will be returning to work on the top story to remove snow and ice damming and install gutter filter.

Homeowner has a few issues resulting in a leak in interior of home.
There is ice damming issues on the second story of house in the valley as well as to the side of the valley on second story. Original valley was installed incorrectly with no underlayment – no ice and water shield and no sealant. The water is crossing the valley going under the roof shingles on both sides and is leaking. The valley requires a permanent repair in order to ensure it is water tight and will not leak.
There …
