Shingle and Fascia Repair
The Reason the Homeowner Called Mr. Roof Repair:
We were called because the homeowner found a leak after a severe rainfall. The leak was coming through the rafters down to first floor from directly above dormer valley on top of the main house.
The Problems We Found:
We went up and inspected the roof. There were 2 shingles missing along the valley and the plywood was exposed and water was getting in where the 2 pieces met. There was no ice and water shield (water proof membrane) on the valley when it was initially installed and there was no underlayment on the roof. The valleys were installed on entire home without any starter shingles though there did not appear to be any problems on the other valleys.
The Solutions for the Roof:
We installed new shingles and sealed them with roof cement to ensure they were secure and would not lift again.
After addressing the immediate problem we inspected the rest of roof. There were two other shingles missing in the back near the vent and therefore installed and sealed new shingles in this area as well.
We then inspected the vents and plumbing stacks and sealed any other shingles that had lifted.
A piece of the fascia trim in moulding had come loose however the homeowner still had the piece so we re-installed it and sealed it to ensure it was fastened tightly and not come loose again.
Shingle life was still good and there were no other issues that we found.
