There was an exhaust vent that was installed broken. It appears as if the vent had been sitting and the plastic had deteriorated and turned brittle and when nails were put in it the flashing cracked and allowing in water. Removed this vent and installed a new 4 inch black exhaust vent. Sealed the flashing on a 3 inch exhaust pipe flashing that was allowing in water. Removed all shingles from around the skylight. As well along the wall and where it meets the second story roof was redone also. Removed skylight from curb. Installed ice and water shield (water proof membrane) in entire area and up curb correctly. Roof cemented around the skylight curb. Installed skylight on curb. Nailed down flashing with nails. Roof cemented around flashing. Installed new shingles using roof cement and nails.
Below a skylight (approximately 6 ft below) there were missing shingles due to wind damage. This left exposed wood as there is no underlayment so water was hitting roof deck and pouring into home.
We replaced these shingles using chem caulking and nails so they won’t get lifted again in this area. We also double nailed each shingle tab and sealed around a furnace vent that was starting to leak due to no sealant.
