A roof leak source can be the result of two kinds of missed details –small and big.

I would say a good portion of our business comes directly from final details of the roofing being neglected. We classify these as the small details. When a roofing labourer mishandles a metal valley and causes the smallest puncture he has just created a future leak source. If the chimney, skylights or vents aren’t installed with proper attention…bam another leak source. Flashings need to be sealed, fasteners cannot be exposed and shingles need to be put on according to manufacturers specifications and to industry standards.

The second category of leak is missing the bigger details– Like missing the starter shingle row, not putting on underlayment, no roof venting or not flashing a chimney. This second category happens often because the homeowner and roofer are trying to cut costs. Believe me it will cost you more in the long run!
