Mr Roof Repair found the home does have gutter filter installed in eaves, however there are alot of trees around home and alot of debris is going on top of gutter filter and staying there. Little plants are forming on top of filter and not blowing off.
The leaking the homeowner is experiencing is due to an inferior sealant being used on all corners and seams. Mr Roof Repair removed all the old caulking that was in poor condition and replaced and sealed with M1 caulking on all corners and inside corners and ends of home.

There are also two areas at the back of the home – there is a slightly higher area of eaves trough that drains into lower area. At the back of home there is not enough drainage through the downspouts so water is overflowing at ends and running down walls on left and right side. This area is right beside doors on either side of home – both areas are on back porch.
Recommendation is that two downspouts be installed at the back of home.

Home also has a chimney leak because there is a valley that comes down directly into to a chimney. This chimney is also a contributing factor to the leak in the area of the eaves. Water is getting under shingles and underneath the membrane surrounding the chimney. The chimney has a lot of water pressure in this area as all the water from the valley hits the chimney and parts around it.

There is the porch and doorways and walkways and needed to have the input from homeowner as to where he would be happy to have these run.
Mr Roof Repair installed two downspouts at back of home on left and right to handle flow of water in eaves.
Homeowner would like them to come down wall and under the porch to the stairways on either side. This involved us removing some porch panels in order to run this underneath the porch. We then secured it to the trusses of the porch as well as to the wall. On the right hand side there is a hole in the eaves trough so we removed a section of eaves trough and installed a stopper to close it off and run downspout down from there.
Removed seedlings growing out of the gutter filter.

Repair Summary:
The damage to the existing roof was caused by animals. There are two areas of damage – one at front and one at back. We removed the broken shingles and replaced with new shingles.
As part of our roof tune up we, cleaned the eaves trough at front of house.

Recommend that front of home be installed with gutter filter (34 ft) – this would eliminate the build up of debris causing the gutter spikes to come out. There is no drip edge here so water is making the fascia wood soft as it runs off shingles into eaves trough and with the weight of the gutter was causing the gutter spikes to come loose. It would help the flow of water to have gutter filter installed. Nailed the gutter spikes back into place. A quote will follow to install gutter filter.
On side of home the aluminium fascia was coming off on A frame part of roof so reattached this with 3 inch framing nails.

Problem: There are three soffit panels – two of which had blown off and one was hanging. The downspout problem that was overflowing in the corner was caused by a clogged downspout.
Solution: We re attached the soffit panels. Then sealed them with chem caulking so wind will not catch them again.
The seals are good in the corner and on the downspout. We then unclogged the downspout.
Our Roof Repair Specialist recommend that eaves be cleaned around entire house and a gutter filter installed.

The seals are good in the corner and on the downspout. We then unclogged the downspout.
Our Roof Repair Specialist recommend that eaves be cleaned around entire house and a gutter filter installed.

Problem: All around the perimeter of house there was an opening between the eaves troughs and the end of the shingles. This allowed animals to get in to the attic, the home or in to the soffit.

Solution: In order to prevent animal entry and animal damage a metal drip edge was installed around the entire perimeter.
This will completely block squirrels, bees nest, racoons, etc.
This repair with drip edge will last the homeowner can reroof and never have to change drip edge again.
