Chimney and Pipe Flashing

We removed a 4” pipe flashing and replaced it with new pipe flashing using roof cement and nails. We also had to remove a 1” pipe flashing and installed new flashing and sealed it using roof cement and nails.
We then installed counter metal going around chimney and capped it off and closed it off with metal and seal it to ensure it was watertight.

Repair Summary:  There was a hole in thr roof near the vent that was caused by animal damage. We removed the surrounding shingles and damaged wood, replaced a 2 x 4 area of plywood, installed an ice and water shield, added a new vent installed and re-shingled the area.

Chimney Flashing Repair

The old flashing was ripped around the chimney. We removed all the old chimney flashing and shingles then installed the water and ice shield. We replaced the counter flashing and added a new back pan. We relaid the shingles and sealed the flashing to ensure water protection.

Vent Removal and Shingle Damage Repair

We had to remove and reinstall attic vents. We also sealed the chimney exhaust and replaced all missing and damaged shingles.
We removed 3 attic vents. At the homeowners request two of these vents were removed permanently and these areas were shingled over. They had had very small ineffective holes in the roof deck for these two vents.
The third vent was correctly reinstalled using roof cement and nails to ensure it is water tight.

Roof Tune Up and Vent Repairs

Both vent pipe stacks were lifted in the front and water is running into the nail holes. We had to remove all fasteners and reseal. We nailed the vents back in place properly. We preformed a roof tune up and assessed there is a good 3 years left on the roof. But, the top of the chimney is crumbling and needs to be dealt with soon.

Toronto Chimney Repair

The leak is being caused by a chimney problem – original roofers did not install ice and water shield (water proof membrane) and did not install shingles using sealant. Also,  flashing was not done correctly. It looks like a previous repair was done on chimney – adding a scrap piece of metal which was tarred to chimney leaving exposed nails. This did not solve original leak and allowed in further water.

Animal damage found on roof near chimney and gutters.  We were able to fix it by placing a piece of metal on hole near gutter to close it and sealed gap near back pan on chimney.  Also replaced damaged shingles and sealed them well.  The roof will need replacing soon, homeowner was advised.
